Prime Minsiter Shri Narender Modi addressed the traders of Delhi in a programme Rashtriye Vyapari Dhanyawad Sammelan. Meenakshi Lekhi, Dr. Udit Raj, Organization General Secretary Shri Siddharthan, General Secretaries Shri Kuljeet Singh Chahal, Shri Ravinder Gupta & Shri Rajesh Bhatia and traders from all over the country alongwith the representatives of Traders Organizations participated in this programme. Union Minister Shri Vijay Goel presided over the programme and CAIT General Secretary Shri Praveen Khandelwalconducted the programme.
Addressing the traders in Talkatora Stadium, Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi said that I express my gratitude to traders from all over the country for listening to me with the help of modern technology. Though I am very busy in the Loksabha Elections this opportunity to talk to the traders is very important. The traders play an important role in the country. During the last five years, the BJP Government has tried to simplify the system of business and you should all do your work free from any tension. This will lead to honesty and transparency in economic system and it will also help in strengthening the country.
Shri Modi said that it was due to the strength of the traders that India was once called golden bird. If any community has taken the Indian culture from Cambodia to Iran then it is the traders. I am very much influenced by your hard labour and we learnt how to work 12 hours within the limits of a shop. Traders are like true weather forecasters who very well know about how much the people will require various commodities and also we can learn from them how to live with limited resources.
Prime Minister Shri Narender Modi further said that wherever there was any scam during the Congress rule the allegation was leveled against the traders. The hoarders of the Congress took the benefit of rising prices and the traders were defamed. The traders had also to struggle due to the Jungle of Laws. Previously, the Governments used to frame new laws every day. After coming to power in 2014, I vowed to abolish the irrelevant Acts. I am also a leader but an exception. I have abolished about 1500 laws in the interest of the traders.
Shri Modi said that the way in which India has progressed in the ease of doing business the same way we are progressing in ease of living. Previously, though the country was ours, the Government was ours but the citizens faced problems to get something. We are introducing the concept of ease of living to simplify the process in this direction. Previously, the people running the Government used to say themselves honest but the rest of the traders as dishonest. For attesting certificates the people had to run from pillar to post but I framed rule for self attestation which is also valid. Every section of society wants respect. Previously the Government hesitated in honoring the traders. With one nation one tax, GST and E-way bill, trade has become easy and transparency has also increased. This is the reason why the number of traders registered under GST has doubled and the revenue of the country has also increased.
Shri Narender Modi said that changes have been made in the GST by the suggestions from traders and we don’t have to wait for the next budget. For 98% of the items under GST, the tax has been reduced to 18%. The traders with turnover of more than 40 lakhs will have to register for GST. India’s rank in ease of doing business is now at 77th position and within 5 years it will go up to 50th position.
The young generation which hesitated in carrying ancestral business is now adopting digital system and doubled its income. 4.5 crore traders have been given Mudra Loan without any guarantee.
BJP has been of the view that the traders should get funds at proper rates and less interference from Government. Our Government is sanctioning loan of one crore within an hour. Exemption in the interest of loan to MSME will help in exports and hence special package is being given. Till date loan of 19,000 crore rupees have been given to the traders any by 2024 it will go up to 1 lakh crores. The traders will benefit by Minimum Government and Maximum Governance.
Shri Modi said that previously the traders doing business of 1 crore rupees had to declare income of 8 lakh rupees which has now been reduced to 6 lakh rupees in which no tax will have to be paid by investing 1 lakh in small savings. We have opposed Inspector Raj, toll collection and tried to solve the problems of traders. We have succeeded in improving sanitation, reducing poverty, providing education and fighting terrorism. The success our effort is the success of India.
Shri Narender Modi also said that I am your servant and hence I want to inform that everyday 70 thousand gas connections are given to our sisters and mothers under Ujjwala and electric connection are being 50 thousand houses. Accounts of about 2 lakh people are being opened everyday under Jandhan Yojna. Mudra Loan is being given to 1 lakh people every day. Just like you I am also calculating the development of our country every day. The trader community is the greatest stake holder in the development of the country.
The Congress leaders have always called the traders as thieves but they do not know the contribution of traders. You can find the name of some traders on the board of every school, hospital or dharmshala. The BJP’s Sankalp Patra is the extension of it. On 23rd May, 2019, once again Modi Government is going to be formed and after the formation of National Traders Commission there will be direct dialogue between Government and traders. Retail Trade Policy will also be framed. Accident insurance of Rs. 10 lakh is being given to traders registered under GST and Traders Credit Card like Kisan Credit Card. Provision for pension to small traders after the age of 60 years is also being made. For about 70 years, nobody thought about the problems of traders. We are going to form a department under the Commerce Ministry for the traders. Loan of 50 lakh will be given without any collateral and by 2024, 50 thousand Startup centers will be formed. Your Chowkidar always stands with you.
